Building futures where every child of limited means in Ghana has the opportunity to attend school and receive a quality education to transcend economic barriers.
The Yenko Foundation was the brainchild of Maxwell O, who, during his many visits to his family home in Ghana, noticed that some children were not enrolled in school and lacked access to quality education. It was a topic he once discussed with his close-knit group of friends from middle school. When those friends later had the opportunity to visit Ghana, they witnessed the issue firsthand and felt compelled to take action.
Determined to make a difference, Alexander and Maxwell came together and decided to use a portion of their weekly allowance to sponsor a child’s education. They reflected on how their own friendships had been formed through school and realized how much a child could miss out on—not just academically, but socially—simply because of their economic circumstances. Upon returning home, Alexander and Maxwell formalized their efforts with a family friend based in Ghana, founding the Yenko Foundation to help children in need of an assist, to gain access to education and the opportunities that come with it.

Although Ghana is considered one of the most stable countries in West Africa, as in many countries, child hunger is a lingering issue.
School Uniforms
Some families struggle to afford school uniforms, living on less than $2 per day.
Transportation
Poor roads and high transport costs make it hard for rural children to attend school.

Every $1,000 raised will give a Ghanaian child an assist with the items required for school tuition, uniforms, safe transportation, and daily meals. With our financial support, we will help to give access to education and a brighter future.

Alexander (Alex) is from Harlem and goes to Bard High School Early College in Queens. He's always ready to pull a quick one or make everyone laugh with his antics. But he’s not just about jokes—he’s also the one who’s always questioning things that don’t quite add up. Whether it’s something small or big, if something seems off, Alex will call it out. His mix of humor and curiosity keeps things interesting, and he’s always the first to stir up some fun or dive into a conversation that makes you think.
That same sharp mind and curiosity carry over into his love for learning and teaching. On weekends, he enjoys tutoring math and occasionally helping first-year Mandarin students—something he relates to as a second-year Mandarin learner himself. Whether he’s breaking down tricky math problems or guiding someone through a new language, Alex brings patience and enthusiasm, always encouraging his students to think critically, ask questions, and make sure everything truly adds up.
About Max
Maxwell is from Manhattan and a student at Fordham Preparatory School. He’s passionate about sports, especially basketball and Ultimate Frisbee, and is always up for a challenge. Maxwell loves to travel, visiting places like Jamaica, Japan, and West Africa—and he goes to Ghana about three times a year! He tries to add a new destination to his travel list every year. When it comes to food, Maxwell's favorite is usually Asian-inspired, but he’s always open to trying new things. Aside from sports and travel, he’s also a member of the Speech and Debate team, where he sharpens his communication skills. Back in Manhattan, you’ll find him hanging out with friends, playing video games, or checking out the latest restaurants around the city. Maxwell is all about staying active, exploring new cultures, and enjoying the best of life in NYC.
About Myles
Myles is from Harlem and a student at the Manhattan Center for Science and Mathematics, known for being the go-to organizer of fun outings for his friend group. Whether it's a trip to Dave's Hot Chicken to grab some delicious bites or a relaxing day at the park, Myles is always planning something to bring his friends together. He's passionate about all kinds of sports, from football to basketball, and enjoys staying active and competitive. His energy and enthusiasm for both his social life and sports make him the kind of person who brings people together, whether it’s for a friendly game or a chill hangout.
