My Favorite Ghana Things by Max O. 🎶🍦🍤
If there’s one song that always hits when I’m in Ghana, it’s “Fall” by Davido. That song is a classic. It’s like the unofficial soundtrack of Accra. Every time I’m riding around the city in a car, someone is blasting it — and honestly, I never get tired of it. I’ve been to Ghana so many times now, and every time I hear that beat, it brings back all the good memories with my family and friends. It just feels like Ghana.
Now let’s talk food — because Ghana doesn’t play when it comes to eating well.
First stop? Always Pinocchio. I have to go there at least once every trip, or it just doesn’t feel right. It’s this cozy ice cream spot with so many flavors to choose from — and the ice cream? Next level. I don’t know what they put in it, but it never disappoints. It’s kind of become my tradition — Ghana trip = Pinocchio visit.
Then there’s Sandbox, hands down one of the best places I’ve ever eaten in Accra. I usually sit by the pool, and at night, the moonlight reflects off the ocean in the background — it’s a whole vibe. The food is insane. I’ve never had a bad meal there. Sure, the drinks could use a little upgrade, but the food makes up for everything. No question — top tier.
Now... Skybar used to be one of my favorites, but it’s been slipping. I used to love their coconut shrimp and especially the bao pork buns (those were 🔥), but then they randomly took them off the menu. Why?! And even the shrimp doesn’t taste the same anymore. To make it worse, they’ve been running low on ingredients for the drinks, so they can’t even make half the stuff on the menu. Oh — and don’t get me started on the dress code. Pants only? No crocs? No shorts? C’mon. I’m just trying to eat good food.
Still, I always look forward to going back to Ghana. The vibes, the music, the food — it’s just home for me. 🇬đź‡âť¤ď¸Ź
